Simon Peter, a servant/bondservant1401 doúlos (a masculine noun of uncertain derivation) – properly, someone who belongs to another; a bond-slave, without any ownership rights of their own. Ironically, 1401 /doúlos ("bond-slave") is used with the highest dignity in the NT – namely, of believers who willingly live under Christ's authority as His devoted followers.

and apostleCognate: 652 apóstolos (from 649 /apostéllō, "to commission, send forth") – properly, someone sent (commissioned), focusing back on the authority (commissioning) of the sender (note the prefix, apo); apostle.

of Jesus Christ,

Peter begins this letter by sharing his calling and by whom he as been called.  He is one who has no ownership rights to himself and willing lives under the authority of Jesus Christ, the One who has sent him.

to those who obtained/received-  2975 lagchanó: to obtain by lot, to receive by divine allotment

a faith (4102/pistis) is always received from God, and never generated by us. Faith (4102/pistis) is always a gift from God, and never something that can be produced by people. In short, 4102/pistis ("faith") for the believer is "God's divine persuasion" – and therefore distinct from human belief (confidence), yet involving it. The Lord continuously births faith in the yielded believer so they can know what He prefers, i.e. the persuasion of His will (1 Jn 5:4).

precious/equally precious- (HELPS Word-studies) Cognate: 2472 isótimos (from 2470 /ísos, "equivalent, equal" and 5092 /timḗ, "assigned price, value") – properly, having the same (equal) value; "equally privileged, held in equal honor" (Abbott-Smith); of consistent value (preciousness, make-up) and therefore deserving equal respect (recognition). 2472 (isótimos) is only used in 2 Pet 1:1 of "like precious faith" (isotimos pistis), conveying that every faith-decision (action) has equaleternal value.

as/with ours- 1473 "I" ego, personal possessive pronoun, dative first person plural

by/through- (HELPS) 1722 en (a preposition) – properly, in (inside, within); (figuratively) "in the realm (sphere) of,"  as in the condition (state) in which something operates from the inside (within).

(the) righteousness of- (HELPS) 1343 dikaiosýnē (from 1349 /díkē, "a judicial verdict") – properly, judicial approval (the verdict of approval); in the NT, the approval of God ("divine approval").2. in a closer sense, justice, or the virtue which gives each one his due; it is said to belong to God and Christ, as bestowing ἰσότιμον πίστιν upon all Christians impartially, 2 Peter 1:1

the God-  (HELPS) 2316 theós (of unknown origin) – properly, God, the Creator and owner of all things (Jn 1:3; Gen 1 - 3).  [Long before the NT was written, 2316 (theós) referred to the supreme being who owns and sustains all things.]

and Savior-  4990 soter:  savior, deliverer, preserver (HELPS) sōtḗr (a masculine noun, derived from 4982 /sṓzō, "save") – properly, the Savior, Jesus Christ who saves believers from their sins and delivers them into His safety

of us, 1473 "I" ego, personal possessive pronoun, genitive first person plural

Jesus Christ-  "Jesus Christ" is properly "Jesus the Christ." "Jesus" (2424 /Iēsoús) is His human name, as the incarnate, eternal Son of God (Mt 1:21,25, see also Lk 1:31) – the Christ, the divine Messiah (the second Person of the holy Trinity).  5547 Christos: [Christ (His title) means "the Anointed One" (the eternal pre-incarnate, Logos, Jn 1:1-18).] "the Anointed One," the Christ(Hebrew, "Messiah").

This letter is written to those who received by divine allotment a faith- God's divine inward persuasion- that is equally privileged, held in equal honor- precious- individually and as a whole.  We received this precious faith through (the inner realm- spirit and operates from Christ in us and in our spirit) through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.  His righteousness, which He gave us- made us righteous and it is through His inward divine persuasion in which we live.

2 Corinthians 5:7
for we walk by faith, not by sight--
2 Corinthians 5:21
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
