Jesus is fully focused on perfecting our faith and completing the work He began (Philippians 1:6).
Read through the letters of the New Testament, and you will see this process taking place through the trials of life. Life on planet Earth is filled with trials and tribulations. They are constantly coming at us like waves to the shore. As Jesus said: "In this world you will have trouble" (John 16:33)
Even so, we can take heart. Jesus has overcome the world. Jesus is now living in us, and He teaches us how to abide in Him through the trials and tribulations of life. He is perfecting our faith.
James, Jesus's half brother, knew about trials and tribulations. As the leader of the church in Jerusalem, he faced opposition from both the Romans and the Jews. Out of that experience, he wrote, "Consider it pure joy, my bothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds." (James 1:1)
Each trial raises the question, is Jesus enough? We're not always sure are we? Sometimes we doubt and even worry that He will not be enough. Time and time again, Jesus proves He is. And each time He does, He moves our faith down the road to completion, as James discovered. "You know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish it's work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking in anything." (verses 3-4)
