On Sunday, my Sunday School teacher (and our associate pastor) Joe Burnett quoted the verses Psalm 14:1 and Psalm 53:1:
"The fool has said in his heart there is no God." He said he had heard
a preacher speak about these verses and the verses actually say,
"The fool has said in his heart no God." In other words, "The fool has
said in his heart, 'No, God.'"- they have chosen to say no to God.
I looked up the Hebrew on Biblehub.com and Joe is right. The words "there is" is added in translation. It is not in the original Hebrew.
I see many unbelievers say, "No, God." I pray you will at least take a
look to see if God is Who He says He is before you say, "No, God."
Maybe who you think God is is not Who God really is?
And...I see
many believers say, "No, God." They choose to follow their own desires,
will and thoughts instead of say, "Yes, God- I'm trusting you,
surrendering." Choosing their own idea of best, instead of God's.
In either case, this truth still stands- you can choose to sin, you can
choose to let sin reign and enslave you but you cannot choose the
consequences of sin- saying, "No, God."
Joshua 24:15
"If it
is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves
today whom you will serve but as for me and my house, we will serve the
LORD."
Philippians 1:9-11 Amplified Bible (AMP)
And this I
pray, that your love may abound more and more [displaying itself in
greater depth] in real knowledge and in practical insight, so that you
may learn to recognize and treasure what is excellent [identifying the
best, and distinguishing moral differences], and that you may be pure
and blameless until the day of Christ [actually living lives that lead
others away from sin]; filled with the fruit of righteousness which
comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise
