Surrender

I spoke with a young woman the other night who has had a lot of trials in her life. Unfortunately she wasn't really taught or encouraged the "right" way to deal with such trials and tribulations- and her actions and behaviors actually magnified the trials and tribulations. But she is now at a point to where she is realizing that how she has responded, acted out and behaved have contributed to her losses, sorrows and pain. She was part of the problem and now, through Christ, she wants to be part of the solution.

Surrender. Brokenness.

See your flesh (self-life, learned behaviors, coping mechanisms),
OWN your flesh,
HATE your flesh and
EXCHANGE it for Christ's life.

It's the only way.

He's the only Way.

Video- Sunday School 4/17/16

This is from 4/17/16.  My Sunday School teacher was on vacation and asked me to teach for him.  I chose to share about an experience my Grandpa Cleary had in a cornfield in 1923.

Unique talents and gifts

The Believers Task

Romans 12:6-8

Ephesians 2:10 , "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them". The Father blesses each of us with abilities and circumstances that enable us to do His work - He planned all this even before we were born. In addition, when we are saved, He gives us spiritual gifts that perfectly fit His purpose for our lives.

The Lord wants us to discover our unique talents and spiritual gifts so that we will be able to use them for His glory. That is the only way we will find genuine joy and fulfillment in this world.

Are we serving Christ in a way that utilizes the gifts we have been given ?

Rest April 14, 2011

Rest

I have noticed in my life that God brings times of work and times of rest.  A time of rest is coming.  But it will be a productive time.  God speaks into us before He speaks through us.  God knows the gifts and desires He has given me.  I know them.  Now, I am asking Him to take these pieces and make them a whole.  I thought that when He called me to a particular calling that it would be like that for all of my life.  But no, I find in my life the callings seem to be stepping stones.  I remain on one stone for awhile until He calls me to the next.  But all stones lead to one way, they all have a purpose.  My problem is that I have to learn the difference between God preparing me and making me aware of the next step and Satan's disgruntled Kentucky accent in my head, trying to make me think I am just dissatisfied with where I am.  But that is not it at all.  I am satisfied.  But there is a holy (set apart by God) push inside of me that it's time to take the next step.  Now the question is, it's time but I'm not sure what to do.  How does this work?  How do all these pieces fit together?

But for now...and while I wait on Him:

I laid it down in silence
   this work of mine,
And took what had been sent me-
   A resting time.
The Master's voice had called me
   To rest apart;
"Apart with Jesus only,"
   Echoed my heart.

I took the rest and stillness
   From His own hand,
And felt this present illness
   Was what He planned.
How often we choose to labor,
   When He says "Rest"-
Our ways are blind and crooked;
   His way is best.

Work He Himself has given,
   He will complete.
There may be other errands
   For tired feet;
There may be other duties
   For tired hands,
The present, is obedience
   To His commands.

There is a blessed resting
   In lying still,
In letting His hand mold us
   Just as He will.
His work must be completed.
   His lesson set;
He is the Master Workman:
   Do not forget!

It is not only "working."
   We must be trained;
And Jesus "learned" obedience,
   Through suffering gained.
For us, His yoke is easy,
   His burden light.
His discipline most needful,
   And all is right.

We are to be His servants;
   We never choose
If this tool or if that one
   Our hands will use.
In working or in waiting
   May we fulfill
Not ours at all, but only
   The Master's will!-       selected

God provides resting places as well as working places.  So rest and be thankful when He brings you, tired and weary, to streams along the way. - Streams in the Desert

He will guide....

Sometimes the Lord leads us on new paths, the journey not going in the path we always thought it would. This can be scary. But know this...He is always with us.

He leads. We follow.

The Helper, the Counselor, the Comforter- the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, leads you/me/us into all truth. Now, isn't that comforting? Can't we be confident in the One who guides?

Isaiah 49:10b
For He who has compassion on them will lead them And will guide them to springs of water.

Where are YOU???????

Dear Sun,
Where are YOU????
I need some Vitamin D!
I need to feel your warmth!
Time to quit hiding and come out to play!
Sincerely,
Me

Faith

 "Faith is an organ of the Spirit allowing us to receive whatever God is doing.  Faith is a wonderful thing, something that every believer possesses.  It takes the pressure off us to perform and initiate His works, and places emphasis on God, the Creator of the actions."- Michael Wells, Sidetracked in the Wilderness
